A Ghost in Cornwall
This land is my memories. For two thousand years this valley has been mine alone. I know every rock, every stream and every tree. I know the forces that shape this land and the people who inhabit it. A billion years ago this land was a migratory trail for the animals of Western Europe. They roamed freely across the huge land of one continent. Millennia passed as the rivers washed silt to the ocean and the sun raised rain to the sky. At that time the mass of Eurasia was joined. The tectonic plates shifted and islands formed, raising proud, green peninsulas on green water, thrust out to the ocean. Long before my time the forces of nature battled along the coasts of Western Europe. From the Southwest, the Gulf Stream warmed and opened the land with summer heat. From the north, ice raged and cracked the rock of what would become the British Isles. The land tells me it was an epic struggle. The generous heat of earth, venting her spleen, the wash of the water, cooling and circulating air. Rain succoured the land and ran back to the sea, endless cycles, repeating endlessly. The earth shifted, chasms opened and the sea swept in, submerging areas and separating the islands of Britain and Ireland from the mainland. Spouts of boiling lava spewed from the molten centre of earth to create granite formations, a source of wonder till the end of time. A great rift opened up what is now the Bristol Channel and the Irish Sea, separating the land into distinct areas. Many characteristics still connect Brittany, Ireland, Wales, and Cornwall. Their joining can still be seen in place and people. But veins of power run through the sea, a matrix of energy criss-crosses the land and reaches out around our planet. The Phoenicians, Egyptians and Greeks journeyed to these coasts even before the Iron Age, in search of Keltic wisdom, since long before the time of my youth. They followed the trail of gold and wisdom across the sea to Cornwall and then to Wales and Ireland. Later, tin trade followed these routes across Brittany and the journeys of wise men and saints to the west of land, the land of setting sun, of Gods and the quest for immortality that haunts us all. Ships and boats from the French and Spanish coasts often sailed to rivers on the south coast of Cornwall in search of trade and journey with the friendly and civilised Keltii, hopefully avoiding the pirates that have ravaged these coasts for millennia. 2000 years ago I was killed trying to save my mother from Portuguese raiders on the river, who stole the gold that came from Ireland. My story is located in the valley of one of these rivers, now called 'River Fowey'. It is a story that I have not been able to tell until now. My own story starts with the visit of Jesus of Nazareth to the river Fowey in 30 AD (according to the Julian Calendar and allowing for a seven year miscalculation). He was twenty three years old. He journeyed on a vision quest to the west-of-land, in search of the wisdom of the Keltii and union with his father spirit. I have spent much time thinking about this moment and my brief encounter with a man who claimed to be Son of God. For hundreds of years I puzzled at his smile, the light in his gaze. He had a quality of being rare in the extreme, an utter and unconditional compassion for all life. Who am I? A ghost; Fintan, born 2000 years ago and caught in the matrix of nature unable to tell my story until now. I am here, waiting for you. A Cornish ghost story, 'The Lily' available only at http://www.simonthescribe.co.uk/Lily.html

It is sad to think, that there are people that just do not read or enjoy picking up a book. Maybe it is because of the world we live in today, with our multimedia obsession of television and mobile phones and a desire for immediacy that people no longer want to read. ? In Dynamite Fishermen, set in Beirut, Lebanon in the early 1980's, Preston Fleming depicts heedless violence as a way of life, as seen from the perspective of an American intelligence officer and his local contacts. The few months in the story fall during somewhat of a lull in the long running Lebanese civil war; a period plagued by almost daily car bombings, civilian shootings, artillery attacks and other mayhem just short of outright warfare. Some credit his work with winning World War II. Obviously, it was a great team effort that got it done but studying General Patton and his role as a leader is good for any inspiring leader. Cycles of the Ghetto by Andrea Woods is not a book for the faint of heart. It is however, a non-fiction literary work written with total honesty, perhaps shocking readers with some of the language used by the characters. I decided to profile this book because it is packed with relevant information on handling Difficult Conversations. Difficult Conversations happen in all areas of life - think about your relationships and work. This book is very relevant if you are responsible for other people. I recommend highly you read it if you are a leader and/or a manager of any group. What makes these conversations so hard to face is the fear of the consequences - whether we raise the issue or try to avoid it. These conversations are almost never about getting the facts right. "Culture to Culture" gives the missionary an encyclopedic reference to culture; whether it is surface culture (what you see on onset) or reference culture (the nuances of culture which are not seen right away). Since culture influences beliefs/values, etiquette/behavior, human relations, communication, and time, any cultural gaffe could be devastating to the missionary enterprise. Ethnocentric obstinacy not only proves a superiority mindset - it could ultimately undermine the building of God's kingdom. Dr. Gawande is an excellent author. It discusses the virtues of different kinds of eBook readers available. The search for knowledge is a never ending activity by the voracious book reader. Searching for books or written knowledge in the information age is an arduous task. Conventional wisdom dictates that Google is the solution for anything related to search. This article details my opinion on the more efficient way of searching for books. That Jesus fathered a child is so remote an idea despite the realism portrayed by the run-away best selling fiction novel Da Vinci Code. However, what could be closer to anyone's imagination is the subtle insinuation that Jesus was fathered by someone - take the Bible for it. And more than a simple imagination, we only need a logical mind, which everyone has, to assemble the pieces together to arrive at a logical conclusion that Jesus should have had a human father. This was a great writer and poet in the twentieth century. He was one of the greatest writers of our time and even today his works are still outstanding. It outlines the problems and discusses the methods for getting us back on track as a world leading innovative nation. Why is this important to me? I ask this question as if I am sitting in your shoes. This book in my humble opinion is a must read. The lackadaisical nature of the masses along with the political gridlock is paralyzing the nation and that affects all of us... It is interesting how things fall into place. I read the 4-Hour work week by Tim Ferriss and was skeptical until I read it. Then this book shows up on my desk. Needless to say Chris Guillebeau has the right idea. People are sleep walking through life. They get up, work, go to bed and get up again. Before they know it, they are 60 years old and wondered what the heck happened. When you're a kid and followed the crowd typically you got in trouble and were told - "If everybody jumped off a bridge, would you follow?" Now when you are older you go to school, get a secure job, buy a house and die. If you do not follow all the people off the bridge then you are an outcast. Chris is an outcast of excellent stature. This is a great book. Let's dig in. Just came across this book while surfing the internet randomly for environment products. First I smiled to myself, looking at the hyped title. Then decided to see what it was all about. Since, the book cost only $13, I decided to give it a try. The first few pages were as usual. I thought it is another fitness product manual boasting about their natural therapy. But, then the author caught my attention. I just wondered when the last time I wandered barefoot. It was in that summer camp before three or four years. My foot is constantly locked in plastic or leather. The Kindle Fire is a recently released version of the Amazon Kindle e-reader. Rebirth offers a lot to comic readers especially those who are interested in the whole Green Lantern history and it's wide and long mythology. It is like key events in the GL storyline had been discussed or referred to as part of the over-all story of this book. 'Sources of Power' by Gary Klein is a highly complex but extremely intelligent interpretation of how our mind works and how it should work. Certain people are indecisive, not because they can't make decisions but they fail to utilize the various sources of mental powers. Intuition and intelligence are two ends of the mental spectrum. Gary Klein's book Sources of Power is based on numerous surveys on the kinetics of decision-making. While most select the first applicable action, some compare and analyze the options available. Various factors contribute into this simple fact. So you've decided to start a book club. One of the first considerations is figuring out what kind of members you'll pursue. Patrick Rothfuss is one of the most interesting and unique writers of this generation. You won't find Twilight love stories here. His unique writing style paired with his special sense of humor has given rise to some of the most mind capturing pieces of work of this decade. His work has been critically acclaimed for his unique sense of writing style and captivating story lines. It won't be long before he makes millions of dollars selling the book rights over for a major motion picture trilogy for his bestselling books. Patrick Rothfuss is a bestselling American writer who capitalizes on creating fantasy works and is also a guest lecturer at some of the major universities around the United States. I'm a book nerd...I love 'em! So much so that I put a summer reading list together every year to make sure that I get my reading fix in. These are books that have helped me over the years and I'm sure you'll find them helpful as well. There are so many books out there that will make us better coaches...these are my top five, but certainly not the only ones that have impacted my coaching life. An Online Book may be confused with online books or e-book. The onset of e-commerce as ushered in by the internet was more of a happy circumstance than an adversity. It is not surprising to find people who may express or demonstrate dissatisfaction or disgust with the internet, as it is very normal for human beings to "resist" change and the intra and inter personal uncertainty that ensues. I recently completed reading the book "Bounce" by Matthew Syed. Syed is a United Kingdom table tennis champion player that has spent the last decade researching "purposeful practice". Syed recognizes that he became a champion not because of innate talent but rather due to learning from experts, being trained by dedicated teachers and putting in a great deal of practice. The Hunger Games Series is set in the post-apocalyptic Panem. In it lays 12 districts and the city of Capitol, which holds control over Panem.
